FREE SATURDAY MORNING ORIENTATION CLASS FOR ANYONE CURIOUS ABOUT FLYING!
Most Saturday mornings at 9:00, Golden State gives a three hour presentation to anyone who has purchased, is thinking of purchasing or has received as a gift a Golden State Flying Club Introductory Flight Special, which includes 2 one-hour flights, two courtesy nights sitting in on our regular ground school, an FAA text book and an official log book in which to record the lessons! The idea is to have some familiarity with how airplanes fly and work BEFORE one's first flight so as to be able to really learn while in the air on the lesson. Especially since the student, on that first flight, is "on the controls" actually flying the plane for more than half the time in the air!
As you can see, these orientation sessions are very popular. You're welcome to come sit in. No obligation. Just call us at 619-449-0611 to reserve a seat or sign up using the form above.
Golden State’s Famous INTRODUCTORY COURSES!*
So you think you might be interested in learning to fly, but haven’t decided for sure? Perhaps you have already decided to learn but are not sure where to go for your lessons? We suggest that you narrow your choices down to 2 or 3 schools based on research, recommendations of friends and a phone call or visit. Location may be a factor, but often people find it’s worth driving a few extra miles to attend the school you select based on the criteria you have. The next move should be to take a close look at how each school operates, get to know an instructor or two and get a feel for the equipment you’ll be using for your training. The best way to do all of this is to take an Introductory Flight at each of the schools. These flights vary from a half hour or so; some offer a full hour at a bargain price. At Golden State we think it is important that you get a thorough look at what we offer, so our introductory is more than just a flight, it’s a course in itself.
We never do an Intro Flight with a student before giving that student a thorough briefing about the flight on which they are about to embark. We talk about what the experience is like, the things they are going to learn during the flight, things they should observe and so on. During the routine flight lesson experience, you’ll do this briefing one-on-one with your flight instructor. For the Introductory Course, we do this in a classroom format most Saturday mornings from 9AM to noon (Call ahead during the week to confirm availability). If you purchase a course or receive one as a gift certificate, just call us and ask to get on the list for the next available “Introductory Orientation Class” or one that best suits you schedule. Often, you can schedule a flight immediately following the class if you call us a few days before the class. We also speak in detail during this class about FAA requirements for pilot licensing, costs, time involved etc. By the way, even if you are just curious about flying you may attend this class any Saturday AM just by calling ahead so that we may reserve a seat for you.
