Learn to fly at golden state flying club san diego
faa approved part 141 flight school

Getting started in aviation can be as simple as showing up at the airport! We can’t guarantee it of course, but often we’ll be able to take you up with a flight instructor within an hour of your arrival! A call on the phone the day before will assure that an airplane and instructor will be available when you want to fly! We have a great Introductory Package to help you get going….please click the INTRO FLIGHT button on the drop-down menu at the top of this page for our special offer to help you get started!
Golden State’s Famous INTRODUCTORY COURSES!*
So you think you might be interested in learning to fly, but haven’t decided for sure? Perhaps you’ve already decided to learn but aren’t sure where to go for your lessons? We suggest that you narrow your choices down to 2 or 3 schools based on research, recommendations of friends and a phone call or visit. Location may be a factor, but often people find it’s worth driving a few extra miles to attend the school you select based on the criteria you have. The next move should be to take a close look at how each school operates, get to know an instructor or two and get a feel for the equipment you’ll be using for your training. The best way to do all of this is to take an Introductory Flight at each of the schools. These flights vary from a half hour or so; some offer a full hour at a bargain price. At Golden State we think it is important that you get a thorough look at what we offer, so our introductory is more than just a flight, it’s a course in itself.
We never do an Intro Flight with a student before giving that student a thorough briefing about the flight on which they are about to embark. We talk about what the experience is like, the things they are going to learn during the flight, things they should observe and so on. During the routine flight lesson experience, you’ll do this briefing one-on-one with your flight instructor. For the Introductory Course, we do this in a classroom format most Saturday mornings from 9AM to Noon (Call ahead during the week to confirm availability). If you purchase a course or receive one as a gift certificate, just call us and ask to get on the list for the next available “Introductory Orientation Class” or one that best suits you schedule. Often, you can schedule a flight immediately following the class if you call us a few days before the class. We also speak in detail during this class about FAA requirements for pilot licensing, costs, time involved etc. By the way, even if you are just curious about flying you may attend this class any Saturday AM just by calling ahead so that we may reserve a seat for you.
Our INTRODUCTORY COURSES include 2 one-hour flying lessons with a flight instructor
The Introductory Course also includes TWO books. One is the FAA Publication “Airplane Flying Handbook” textbook and the other is a Pilot Logbook. It is very helpful to read as much of the Handbook as possible before your first flight. At the very least, we recommend reading Chapters 1 thru 3 and optimally up to and including Chapter 5. Also, the pilot Log you will receive is also a very important part of your flight training as it is a complete record of all of your flight training and subsequent flight experience. You should bring it with you for every flight, make a copy of each page when it becomes full, and never lose it.
THE INTRODUCTORY FLIGHT ORIENTATION CLASS is also included in the package. This is the Saturday AM Class discussed in detail in the 2nd paragraph above.
TWO NIGHTS OF PRIVATE PILOT GROUND SCHOOL. As part of the Introductory Package you may attend (at your option) TWO nights( your choice of nights) of our 11 week PRIVATE PILOT GROUND SCHOOL. Please click the GROUND SCHOOL tab on the Dropdown menu for more information on our Ground Schools.
